Microdermabrasion
What is
microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion removes the outermost layer of skin by exfoliation and
exposing living skin cells that are receptive to nutrients. This promotes
generation of new collagen which thickens the dermis(skin) and improves
resistance to the effects of aging.
How is Microdermabrasion performed?
Microdermabrasion may require a series of treatments. When repeated every 7 to
10 days for anywhere from 3-16 weeks, the cumulative results can be significant.
Microdermabrasion is easy to undergo. It does not require anesthesia either
local or general. I have heard some people say that it feels like sandpaper on
their skin. If your skin is sensitive you expect your treated skin to look
slightly pink. However, there should be no obvious skin wounds, weeping, or
blistering. For deeper microdermabrasion procedures, and intensive skin peels,
your skin may be slightly red and swollen for about a day or two.
